Be Social…

If somebody reads our content then this is always a good thing. People are busy and with so many options available online we really should appreciate those who take the time to read our posts or articles. Ideally though, we don’t just want people to read or content and then forget about us; we want them to come back for more. Here are just a few tips that should ensure that our readers will be frequent visitors to our website.
- Any content on our website should be like a hook that is used to catch readers. Most visitors will usually end up on our site because they came across us while searching for information through a search engine. They will come looking for one thing, but if what we have written is interesting enough then they may well decide to explore more of what we have to say. If we continue to impress then they might just sign up to our subscription option or bookmark our website. For this to happen though we have to ensure that all our posts are effective hooks.
- There are too many drab articles available on the web. We might write something that is very informative but if it doesn’t provide something that is not available somewhere else then what is the point? The reality is that there are just too many people writing the exact same thing and this is not the best road to success. Our uniqueness is our personality and we should not be afraid to give our own opinions.
- If we try to manipulate readers or mislead them to make money then we are not doing ourselves any favours. People can usually suss out when somebody is a bit sleazy so they will stop visiting that website. If we appear to be too much into hard selling or if we do anything sneaky to make money it will eventually backfire on us. Why would anyone want to return to a website if they believe that the posts are little more than spam? Our mission should be to entertain people and provide them with content that is going to be useful – that is the way to create a successful website.
- Grammar and spelling are important if we want to impress first time readers. If we have typos then it will turn people off what we have to see. Our natural reaction seems to be to assume that if people make mistakes in their writing then they can’t know much about their subject. This belief is of course a bit unfair but it is the way people think whether we like it or not.
The overall look of our website is as important as the content. If things look too busy or messy on your site then this is going to put people off. If your website is covered in advertising then this can also be very off putting for a lot of folk.
